LH or RH crossdraw holster for driving?

I'm essentially an ambidextrous shooter, and I'm holster shopping for a new gun/summer weather.

I've decided on a cross draw holster because the majority of the threats I anticipate are while I'm sitting down or driving.

I like the LH draw because I don't have to change hands to hide a pistol by my left leg, and I can draw the pistol while "undoing my seat belt", but I'm wondering if I could casually draw from a RH cross draw undetected to a cop standing by and behind the driver side door.

Perhaps ride the seatbelt back with my right hand, and draw on the way to reaching for the door handle?

The RH crossdraw is also less visible to a cop while holstered.

Thoughts?

I think armoring my door interior and making an ANFO claymore might be a better solution than either, but until then...

Which holster should I get?

Thank you for putting words in my mouth.

How about:
"I need advice on how to best insure that my life is never in anyone's hands but my own."

I should just move to Europe where being at the mercy of others is a way of life.

That's a cool concept. Could probably make something similar to clip an IWB to.

EX:
Have it under the seat normally, with a loop that rests where the gun is in the picture. Spring load it with elastic, and pull on the loop and sit on the strap when you get in the car. You adjust your weight a little bit and the holster is allowed to get sucked back under the seat. If you don't always feel like sitting on the stap, you could do a two handed draw as necessary, pulling on the loop and grabbing the gun.

Have you considered the possible problems you would encounter trying to fire out the drivers window using your left hand?

I don't think there is a good way to do it.

While drawing with the right hand would allow a decent shot to the right or left.

I would draw with the right hand from a left side shoulder rig or left side waist holster.

Elroy said it best.

THe bonus of using your right hand while on the left side of the vehicle in have a free left hand to manipulate more: You can control your steering wheel with your left hand, you have more control over your door with your left hand, etc.

Also, if for some reason you had to draw and remove your seat belt, it would hinder you if you were holding your gun in your left hand, as the seat belt crosses your left shoulder, meaning youd have to take your gun away from your target to manipulate it around and out of the seat belt.

With the gun in your right hand, you can cover a larger zone of attack, in that youd have a 230+degree arch in which you can effectivley put rounds on the target without losing control of your vehicle.

If you're on the right side of the car, do the exact opposite.

If you have the talent to shoot amidextrious then there is only one rig for you, a double "Miami" rig would allow you to have twin pistols both underarm.

My thoughts: Pull your gun on a cop?

Casually, yes. Undetected, I doubt it.

Sounds like suicide by cop to me. Here in Indiana many of the state troopers approach the vehicle from the passenger side and conduct business from there. I assume it gives them an excellent view inside the car and keeps their ass out of the traffic lane.

When pulled over I place both hands on the steering wheel and if it is night I turn on the dome light. There is no need to make things difficult or take unnecessary risks.
